#GoingFar launches Mentorship Programme for Migrant Careers
#GoingFar, launched its first Mentorship Programme, aimed to leverage migrant careers in Ireland. The three-month mentoring counts with 43 mentees and 43 mentors and will support migrant professionals to accelerate their professional development. The objective of this programme is to give the migrant community tools to advance their careers.
Each mentee was paired with a highly experienced mentor based on their skills and needs. The programme is a valuable opportunity for the participants to gain insights from their mentors, and learn from them 1–1.
The launch event and initial session occurred on September 23rd, with an online platform called Remo. The first session allowed mentees to meet their mentors for the first time, set goals, and work on their development plan.
Some testimonials of our mentees:
“I loved the first session of mentoring. My mentor is a recruiter and it is great to learn more about his point of view. At times it can be overwhelming choosing the path that will lead towards your goals and it’s terrifying thinking you may choose the wrong one.
My mentor provided me with inspiring reflections and considering possibilities that I haven’t thought about. I still have a lot of work and research to do and am looking forward to our next meeting, and eventually meeting in person for a cup of coffee when it’s safer!” — Mayara
“I felt like my mentor and I was a match made in heaven! I was a bit anxious before my first session, but he made me very comfortable and he was very open and friendly. He has a solid career in a global company, so it is amazing to get insights from inside the industry. I can’t wait to complete my programme!” — Vithória
Based on this first Mentoring, #GoingFar aims to assess and improve the current offering and also to launch a long-term programme next year. With this journey, we are looking to break barriers and see the migrant community succeed in Ireland.
